Why you should have your brand photographed and 4 things to look out for.

Getting your brand photographed is super important when it comes to building a strong and recognisable brand. It's a great way to showcase your products, services, and company values in a visually appealing way, which can help you attract and retain customers. Plus, having high-quality images can help you maintain a consistent and professional look across all your marketing channels, like your website, social media, and print materials. As a bonus, having unique and custom photos of your brand can help you stand out from the competition and establish a unique identity in your industry. So if you're looking to strengthen your brand and increase your visibility and appeal, investing in professional photography is definitely a smart move!

Stand out from the crowd.

The way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Here’s an example of a recent brand shoot with Cass from Stable Studios, right here in Cardiff.

It's always a pleasure to be invited to help represent a brand and a business, especially someone so local. Working with Stable Studios has been one of those jobs that instantly gets you excited, and it's been an honour to have been asked to come back to capture their business on a wider scale.

So, let’s get to it, shall we!

I’m going to show you the 4 things on my tick-list for brand shoots using our recent shoot with Stable Studios as an example. This is a combo blog, for brands and photographers alike.

Top tips for photographing a business and things to look out for when you’re having your own brand captured:

DETAILS

This gives the viewer a sense of invitation, a glimpse into the everyday, and a way to connect and relate to the business behind the images. These are great for social media information posts, blogs and banners on websites. These can be used time and time again and are priceless when it comes to brand identity.

HUMANS

Even if the brand solely relies on products, capturing the people behind the operation is imperative for audience connection. We want to know how much love, laughter, joy and passion goes into working at that company. More faces = more business. Bonus point, if you’re having your brand photographed, you’ve dolled up for the occasion, so it’s much easier to show up on social media and your website, especially on those days where you don’t feel like it so much. We all have them, and this is a barrier to showing up when you don’t particularly want to. We love honesty here!

ENVIRONMENT

Where do they work? What's the space like? What's the vibe like? All these things help the viewer to gauge what it's like behind the scenes (BTS) and how the company runs.
If they run sustainably and it's important to their brand, how can you represent that?

CONNECTION

Getting to know your client, their journey and their business model/ethics will help you massively in representing their brand. Getting them to fill out a questionnaire or have a pre-shoot consultation over video or in person will help a) break the ice, making you and your client more relaxed on the shoot day and, b) aid you in understanding their business so it's easier for you to accurately represent it.

So, photographers, get all these four things as your baseline and you'll have a well-rounded brand shoot that will be sure to please your clients and in turn, please their clients.

And, clients, be sure to know exactly what you’re after when hiring your photographer, open up conversations, create mood boards and get specific - this is YOUR brand, they are there to help you get it, and will do just that if you’re both on the same page.
