Family Photography at Three Cliffs Bay | A Sunset Session on the Gower
I don't think you can go particularly wrong with a family photography session at Three Cliffs Bay.
You've got the sea, the sand, the cliffs, plenty of space to run around and, if you time it right, some seriously lovely evening light. And we know how much I love to chase that yummy light.
This particular session involved three daughters, a lot of running, sandy toes, games on the beach, dancing, and a lot of big belly laughter.
It was a beautiful, hearty tangle of love.
A family session on the Gower
One of the things I love about photographing families is seeing how different every family is.
With three girls running around Three Cliffs Bay, there was rarely a quiet moment, just as we like it. They played, chased each other around the beach, got covered in sand and made the most of having a one of the best beaches in South Wales (in my most humblest of opinions).
We played games, explored the beach and let the evening unfold rather than trying to make everything happen at once.
There were lots of little moments in between the bigger ones too. The girls together. Their individual personalities coming through. The kind of expressions and interactions that you don't necessarily plan, but are exactly why I love photographing families.
And then came the dancing.
As the sun started to drop, the girls danced along the beach together, completely wrapped up in their own little world.
What a lovely thing to be part of.
Then Mam and Dad got in the sea
Once we'd spent a good amount of time with the girls, we switched things up.
Mum and Dad headed into the ocean together.
Because apparently a family photography session, turned couple photography session at Three Cliffs Bay wasn't quite complete without getting absolutely soaked. Every. Time.
Itβs so important and a vital part of our sessions together that the parents get to spend some time, even if we only have 5 minutes, to simply be together.
You've got this whole life you've built together, and somewhere amongst school runs, packed lunches, work, laundry and trying to remember where you left your phone, it's quite nice to remember that you're also just two people who really kinda like each other.
Even if you are standing in the sea fully clothed.
Three Cliffs Bay family photography
Three Cliffs Bay is such a brilliant location for family photography in South Wales because there is so much you can do with it.
You don't need to spend the whole session in one spot. We can walk, explore, play, run down to the water, climb over the dunes and make the most of whatever the evening gives us.
And if your children have considerably more energy than you do, Three Cliffs Bay is also very handy for letting them burn some of it off.
For families travelling from Cardiff, the Gower is close enough to make a really lovely change of scenery, while still feeling like you've properly escaped for the evening.
This session was a perfect example of why I love photographing families here.
Three sisters having fun together.
Parents getting a little time to themselves.
Sandy feet.
Cold water.
A lot of laughter.
And a sunset at Three Cliffs Bay to finish it all off.
Not a bad way to spend an evening.
