Cardiff Wedding Photographer Travel to Cambridge for Best Friend’s Wedding

Captured by a Cardiff Wedding and Engagement Photographer

There are days that leave a mark so soft and deep, you carry them with you always. This was one of those days.

I had the incredible honour of photographing my best friend’s wedding in the dreamy, historic city of Cambridge. Although I’m based in Wales and often shoot as a Cardiff wedding and engagement photographer, I’ll travel anywhere love takes me. And this time, it took me somewhere extra special (on the hottest day of the year, I might add).

An Emotional Wedding Ceremony in Cambridge

The morning was quiet, almost sacred. A gentle calm before everything began. Gifts and hugs were exchanged, along with first looks and the careful tying of the dress by proud parents.

Their ceremony venue stood proud, filled with history and stillness, as if it had been waiting for this moment too. Warm light filtered through tall arched windows and kissed the aisle, setting the tone for what would become one of the most emotional and beautiful wedding ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed.

From the very first look to the last word of their vows, the day was full of the deepest meaning. But there was one moment I’ll never forget—just before the vows, the couple asked everyone to raise a cheer for the friends and family who couldn’t be there. Those who had passed, but who were still so present in the hearts of everyone in the room. There was no silence, a rising wave of clapping, cheering, of love, of tears and smiles mixed together. It was powerful. You could feel it ripple through every soul there.

As a wedding photographer, I’ve seen so many types of ceremonies. But nothing compares to photographing someone you love, someone who knows your heart, as they marry theirs. My hands held the camera but my chest held back tears. It was that kind of day. The stories, poems and scriptures that were read by their closest friends and family echoed through the chapel and it was a moment to witness.

Their vows were tender and honest, spoken with gentle voices that carried such weight. When the kiss came, the light shifted so everything was clear and sharp and beautiful, like it held out just for that very moment.

Confetti, Laughter, and a Trombone Player

Afterwards, the couple stepped into the sunlight to resounding cheers and flying confetti. There was laughter, so much beautiful laughter, and of course an obligatory trombone player. The breeze played with her veil and the world melted into the background. It felt like we had stepped into a painting.

Cardiff Wedding and Engagement Photography That Tells a Story

Even though I’m mostly known as a Cardiff wedding photographer, this day reminded me of why I love what I do no matter where I go. It’s about connection. It’s about people. It’s about the stories that deserve to be seen and remembered, just as they are, honest, soft, beautiful, a heck lot of fun.

I’m still not over this day. And I’m not sure I ever want to be.

More from this wedding is coming soon, and I can't wait to share it.
